Many times it seems like men have all the rights while women don’t but there’s still something we can do so both genders will be equal at least when it comes to human rights. The United Nations has made many strides towards equality between men and women including education, labor force participation rates, bone health, the maternal mortality rate (MMR), and more.

The treaty is known formally as CEDAW- Convention on Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women- and has been ratified by 186 out of 193 UN member states with Somalia being the only country not to sign it so far (why?).

As evidenced by these facts alone, there’s still a lot more work left to be done when it comes time for comparison but I’m willing to bet that we’ll see great strides in the future on this issue.
